| "We
should all write the story of our own life." (whatever the
medium)
Redon
I am interested in old items which remind me of museums, life
in
previous centuries, my own heritage and in developing my feeling
of
connection to the past.
I collect certain items from the era of my childhood and earlier.
I see
these items as treasures. I want to recreate a fantastic attic of
reconfigured used items that are artistically valuable for their
inherent value as relics as well as for their new found life as
collages
recreating a contemporary statement.
"Recycling" for re-use in this sense has the
added dimension of attempting to find and recreate my tenacious
long-living soul. The convention of collecting incites
my learning of history and captivates my imagination to create a
coherent heritage for myself.
I usually start with two pieces that in my mind must be joined.
The pieces are chosen with the recognition of possibility to delight
the viewer with subtle, dawning beauty. Together the pieces expand
the intended vision. The direction is defined by the exquisiteness
of the natural world compounded by the marks of age.
In my compositions I re-invent objects to capture moments when
the eye can on the heavens espy.
